Lance is the former Chairman of the Shinnecock Nation and current Regional VP of the National Congress of the American Indian. We talk "recognition", NCAI, Montaukett, mascots and pretendians.

My old school that I took on over their mascot lost their appeal to the State Supreme Court. This fight led to the statewide ban. The Senecas and NYS agree to extend the current gaming compact as the Governor continues her squeeze on Seneca gaming revenue. And Governor Hochul vetoed a bill that would have restored State recognition to the Montaukett Nation. 

This was Peter d'Errico's first appearance on my show in New York. Shawnee Rice was co-hosting. We covered a wide range of issues and hit them hard.

We are not fighting for civil rights, constitutional rights or even treaty rights. We are fighting for our sovereignty and autonomy.

If you were appalled by the racism displayed in Killers of the Flower Moon, you must understand that it still continues today. The federal government considered Native people as incompetent and too ignorant to manage our own funds and our own businesses. That designation continues today with the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. 

I promoted a PBS series that featured a 15 year old boy who committed suicide shortly after filming the segment. We need to address Native youth suicide!
